The Hour I First Believed by Wally Lamb

Post by bermudasyl »

Currently I'm reading "The Hour I First Believed" by Wally Lamb. I've read his other two books ("She's Come Undone" and "I Know This Much Is True") and loved them. But this one I am finding a tad tedious. There is so much backstory and it is narrated in a very passive manner, getting me bogged down in the narrative and wanting to just chuck the book. But then there's a scene where the characters are engaged and it gives me hope for the rest of the book so I keep reading. It's a hefty novel and has taken me forever to get halfway through it. I'm still on the fence about carrying on with it or just stopping. Has anyone else read this book?

It's been on my list for a while but I haven't got to it yet
We fade away, but vivid in our eyes
A world is born again that never dies.
