HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT AUTHORS DONATING PROCEEDS

Post by Flyboy »

I noticed in the book Dark Canvas that the author had volunteered to donate some proceeds to the Fibromyalsia association. I can't decide whether I think this is cheesy or not. I guess it depends on the motivation for it.

On the other hand, motivation aside, I guess if some charity benefits what does it matter the intentions?

What do you think?

Why would it be cheesy? Giving to charity is NEVER cheesy.

Ok well that was kind of my point. If the author did it to help promote the book but he still did it. does it really make any difference.

I agree with you actually. Motivation here is immaterial. 8)

I love the idea whether it is a form of marketing, humanitarianism or a combination of both. :)

I think it is a great idea..it gives people incentive to buy the author's book and helps a good cause. I may be biased, though, because I am donating 10% of profits from my debut novel Paranoia (search Paranoia Braun on amazon or bn) to the Twin Towers Orphan Fund (I can't post a link yet...but it's ttof dot org) since my novel is about a 9/11 survivor and his desire to return to a normal life after his fell apart following the attacks.
