Books 5,6 and 7 are a different matter, they just go completely off the rails and the ending is that bad that upon finishing it I actually threw the book across the room in frustration.
I got the feeling that after book 4 King had no idea where to take the saga or even how to end it.

So true! I read the series in High School, I think. They were good but not what I wanted from King. When compared to It, Pet Sematary (loved the end on that one!!), and several others it just wasn't the same.StephenKingman wrote:Its a decent series and never less than readable but King is not a sci fi author no matter how hard he tries. A case of having too many fingers in pies with this series. Horror is his forte..

I read the whole series and the ending can be good or bad depending on your choice. I decided not to heed King's warning so I remember well the bad ending. The story is good for me. Even if the concept is really "too many fingers in pies" as StephenKingman said, King made the connections to all those pies (although some are vague). Plus it was really cool to read about Stephen King in the story.
I do not aim with my hand;
He who aims with his hand has forgotten the face of his father.
I aim with my eye.
I do not shoot with my hand;
He who shoots with his hand has forgotten the face of his father.
I shoot with my mind.
I do not kill with my gun;
He who kills with his gun has forgotten the face of his father.
I kill with my heart.
