"Hero" by Perry Moore-Review/Recommendation

Post by I_Eat_Books_for_Breakfast »

Wow. That is the first word that comes to mind to describe this book. Perry Moore is brillant author. "Hero" is a fantastic book about Thom, a boy who lives in a word where superheroes are real. Thom's father was once "Major Might", a superhero without superpowers. Now though, "Major Might" has fallen from his former glory and is reviled by the world. He struggles to make ends meet for him and his son. Amongst all this, Thom struggles with his idenity, discovering some very surprising things about himself. Thom carries some powerful, and painful, secrets. This is a book that tackles topics that face our world combined with things that will never happen (superheroes) in a very realistic way. Thom's journey is one that should be read by everyone.

I am surprised to see this here.

I got this book at a book fair and had the author sign it. I figured it was nothing great, but then my daughter read it and loved it too. She keeps telling me to read it.

I read it, and you are right is is good. I like the play on the justice league that Prerry Moore alluded to and how Warrior Woman is just like a Wonderwoman and they call her out for being a b---h.

If you liked that one you might like "Soon I'll be Invincible" by Austin Grossman.

It just came out in soft cover. Where as Hero is more serious and about superheros with problems, Invincible is more a real comic, only it is a satire.
