Giulia provided us with semi stories that revealed the backgrounds and motives if each character. At the same time, developed a way so everyone's story meshes accordingly. Drama, romance, jealousy, betrayal, revenge, love triangles, are some things you'd expect from this book. It also teaches us about how life isn’t all about just how we look. There are days when people may get the impression that you must look a certain way to be accepted anywhere in life. This book shows us, that life is much greater and that dieting to please others leaves the one dieting unhappy.
We follow a character, by the name of Chloe, who tries dieting due to wanting to look beautiful when they get to meet their boyfriend’s parents, for the first time. First impressions means a lot, but the way she was going about it, wasn’t the proper way. She’s been struggling with several things in her life, from her relationship, a love for someone else, work stress, and just her overall life. Along her journey, she struggled the most and tried the best she could with dieting, but that was tossed out the window soon enough. Dealing with stress from all angles didn’t give her the benefit to continue striving to reach her goal. But she has been feeling a bit better than before.
The moment when all truths came to light, granted the opportunity for everyone to take a good look at themselves, made them realize that everyone isn’t perfect. With the new sense of life, she discovered that the mistakes and actions she took, only molded her into the happier self she can now learn to live with. The secret lives everyone were living, played a role in the struggles she was trying to overcome in her life. But in the end, happiness ruled, and it couldn’t have been a better book to tell and show all. Chloe has lived, and learned, now she is able to carry on with her life, feeling a couple pounds lighter.
I rate this book a 4 out of 4, simply because Giulia created a fascinating storyline for the book and wrapped it around the topic of food. Incorporating different elements gained more than just a story, but insight on how people’s lives might actually be in the real world. Understanding that dieting can not be successfully accomplished just be eating healthy. It also involves proactive health in all aspects of life, especially self love. The motivation, drive and willpower, assisted Chloe in the goals she wanted and had accomplished. This book took time to connect the dots of Chole’s life.
