Official Review: If Love Is Rea by Vickie Crum

Post by nan m »

[Following is the official OnlineBookClub.org review of "If Love Is Rea" by Vickie Crum.]

I recently got an opportunity to read If Love Is Rea by Vickie Crum. This story is basically a copy of or lets say is inspired by Maya Banks's "Sweet Persuasion". As I had already read Sweet Persuasion so it was a little harder for me to read If Love Is Rea by Vickie Crum. Still, I managed to read.

Apart from the "repetitive story" the english was poor too. There were many mistakes which were hard to ignore. And, it gave me an impression that author didn't re read their own book plus author didn't care to get it proofread. I wish the author had spent some time or money in getting it proofread or at least should have re read it then this book would have been much better. Also, this book is too long and I felt it was stretched unnecessarily. Biggest eye sore is the title. I dont know its who's mistake or even a mistake but I guess the title should have been If Love Is Real and not Rea!!

Now, the good thing about this book - I liked Reed Turner and his possessiveness. I could easily imagine an extremely handsome man flowing around like heart touching music. Jack, David were also sweethearts. Must say Sydney is lucky to have friends like Jack and David. Also, Reed's family is an ideal family and no one had "holier than thou" characteristics. I was able to absorb this easily. +1 for this.

I liked the character sketch of Sydney Walsh. The way she held her life and took responsibility of her life is nice. She's too young but quite mature. To save herself from being a soft target she portrays herself as a bitch. And, the way this was explained, I found it believable.

Recommended -

Well if you've read Maya Banks's Sweet Persuasion then don't go for this book. If bad English and "not proofread" content is no issue for you then you can read it. It will surely entertain you. It isn't a book that you should completely stay away from. The story may not be original but that doesn't make it any less entertaining. If this book was proofread then I would have called it much better than Maya Banks's sweet persuasion because this book wasn't all about sex and the suspense was actually quite well thought unlike Sweet Persuasion.

I may recommend it but can't call it good because of three factors - First, it wasn't proofread. Second, why a mistake in title? Third, it could have been a few pages shorter.

I rate it 2 out of 4 stars.
