Sons and Fathers by Chris Kassel.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Sons and Fathers by Chris Kassel is the story of Rocco, who starts as an unassuming individual who occupies himself with routine duties. Every day, he would do meaningless workouts at the gym, drink seltzer at Nick's Corner, and fall asleep in front of his TV. Any observer would assume that Rocco finds solace in the routine and predictability of his limited environment. However, appearances can be deceiving in Chris Kassel's "Sons and Fathers: Soul and Shadow." Chris Kassel's novella "Sons and Fathers" is a breathtakingly lovely exploration of identity and family. At first glance, the main character appears to be a reserved man with a harsh attitude and a dislike for fostering connections. However, readers soon see that Rocco is a complex individual who has mastered the art of suppressing the hurt and resentment from his tragic upbringing. I could see as I flipped the pages that the author had done a masterful job creating a character who grew more and more vulnerable as the narrative progressed. I also commend Kassel for being able to totally change my initial dislike of Rocco into a profound affection and understanding for him. It is the chef's kiss of literary character development.

This is one of the best books that deserves full point as the way it narrates the current life style of Rocco and the way character develops, which is so complex to understand when he reaches Italy from his estranged father's place, and the way things unfold are remarkably bit by bit.

The negative side of this book is none; it vividly describes the hurt of Rocco and how he goes on in search of his father, and what happens when he reaches there is beautifully unfolded by Chris. The way Chris unfolded the father-son relationship is impeccable. Editing is also done well, with no grammatical or spelling errors. Formatting would have been improved.

Conclusion: This is one of the best books to read. It is a beautifully crafted book with the character of Rocco, and then how it goes to Italy to search for his father is a beautifully developed plot and the end. This is a must-read book for everyone to get lost in Rocco’s life and his bond with Father. It must be read for everyone, so what are you waiting for? Grab your copy now.
