"Sinjin" Official review

Post by JessiAnne26 »

H.P. Mallory strikes again, in the best possible way. This short little wonderful novella starts in someone else's perspective. I initially thought the series would be all about Sinjins perspective, or his backstory from the Jolie Wilkins Series so i was surprised that he is a secondary character in this book as well. Sexy as hell and seductively brash as ever, Sinjins appearances in this novella do keep the readers attention, and this book is a fun summer read for anyone who's already read the Jolie Wilks Series, or is in the midst of tearing their way through those pages.

The novel starts when the queen of the underworld (Jolie) has captured her twin sister and is holding her captive until she can figure something else out to do with her. While the girls may be twins they couldn't be more different. brought up completely separate from each other (one was a valley psychic in L.A. just trying to scrape by while the other was training to be a warrior to kill any kind of monster, vampire, werewolf, etc.)they find they have much in common but Bryn-the main character of this particular series- is intent on believing that she and her sister will always be sworn enemies.

The story mostly goes through the relationships Bryn goes through with her two appointed guardians, -The king of the Faye (Odran) and The Sinfully sexy 500 year old bar owning vampire, Sinjin. Bryn spends some time with each trying to get herself out of her captive state only to find that unlike ever before in her life she has romantic feelings, as well as the feelings that go along with being friends with people you're sworn to hate. Not only is getting difficult for Bryn to see the line between friends and enemies with people she was brought up to loathe, and kill but Bryn has started escalating her relationship with her very pregnant and very lovely sister.

As time goes on Bryn spends more time getting to know her sister, even talking about boys for goodness sake! They're bond gets deeper and deeper until a special favor is asked of Bryn ensuring their sistership to be as solid as if they hadn't spend the rest of their natural lives apart from each other. Bryn is excited and elated and finally starting to feel what it means to have friends and a family, even though she has to keep reminding herself their supposed to be the enemy, and the internal conflict is very palpable and astute thought-out the book. To the very last sentence Bryns internal conflict has the reader on edge wondering just what side will she choose, what will become of her family, and who exactly will she consider her family anyway?

While initially disappointed this book wasn't in Sinjins perspective, the story was certainly a jolly good read. If you haven't read anything by H.P. Mallory in the past now is the time to pick up the Jolie Wilkes series and have yourself an excellent summer adventure. Once you've voraciously read through that the Sinjin series is definitely a great place to pick up and I look forward to the next few novellas. I do recommend anything by H.P. Mallory for a fun summer read to anyone looking for a little paranormal and pretty sexy fun.

Wealth, Health, & Love to all
