The book, Adventures of a Gala Guru: Saving the Planet One Party at a Time by Donna Vessey, is a well-written, fun novel filled with enough interesting, hilarious adventures to keep any avid reader engaged.
Some of my favorite parts of this book involved how the event staff had an abundance of ridiculous/impossible requests from their clients. You have a staff comprised of the author’s close friends, which makes it easy to incorporate humor in the quick-to-read chapters. The dialogue between them had me laughing out loud at times. It was amusing how they would deal with difficult clients who seemed completely unreasonable with a smile on their faces and “thoughts” in their heads.
The realistic theme of the book also added to the appeal. When staff encountered an “interesting” or challenging client, I could relate to what they were feeling/thinking. The book had me pondering what some people are thinking when their expectations border on insanity. I enjoyed learning about what party/event planners experience when trying to meet the demands of their wealthy and eccentric clients. The craziness that goes on in planning the large-scale events in the novel was a real eye-opener. Many people talk about what goes on “behind the scenes” to pull off something like a wedding, graduation party, or milestone birthday, but the soirées in this book diminish those by a mile!
I highly recommend this book because it is a quick, fun read that I thoroughly enjoyed. However, I cannot give it the highest rating due to the number of editing errors I found. Therefore, I must give this book a 4 out of 5 due to the numerous errors. The content was five out of five due to the masterful way the author showed the antics and magic it takes to successfully create a client’s vision at such an enormous (and sometimes obnoxious) scale.

It is sad that errors prevented the book from earning a perfect rating, but I hope that the author will consider having it taken through another round of editing. I am glad that the book is packed with humor. The review is informative, @Nancy Ferris Postilli.

Who would have thought that a book about event planning will sound so interesting? Beautiful review.

It was a good review. Event planning is such an unique thing described in books. Thanks for this amazong review, and I hope that the author could fix the errors.
