Word from Future by Rock Pig was an interesting, thought-provoking book based on political history and research that helped the author write about and maybe even predict the future of the nation. Rock Pig strongly believes that the predictions in these pages will come true; therefore, this isn’t exactly a fiction book. I rate this 3 out of 5.

Something I should’ve enjoyed about reading Word from Future was how confident the author appeared. A reader is more likely to be interested in a book or believe in a book’s message if the author shows confidence in their writing, and Rock Pig is certainly convinced of his own contrived solutions and ideas. Although I found this admirable to an extent, it is my opinion that the author sometimes straddled the line between confidence and overbearing.

There is a criticism I have about this writing: while Rock Pig’s credentials are discussed, and I’ll admit I was impressed by their extensive life experience, I still felt the wording in this book came across as arrogant. I want to be clear I am not calling the author arrogant; I’m saying the wording and how some of the points came across felt a bit pompous. There have been plenty of predictions in the past of what the future could hold, and they’re not always accurate; for example, the Y2K and the similar 2012 ‘end of the world’ predictions. Just because the author speaks with confidence and conviction doesn’t mean the words are fact. I deducted two stars from my rating because it was simply not very enjoyable to read, and I felt like the author failed to create a real connection between themself and the readers. Any writer who claims their predictions are facts should expect the readers to feel an arrogant vibe.

The spelling and grammar in Word from Future were incredible, which is why I still gave this book such a high rating. A lot of effort clearly went into this.

Overall, Word from Future by Rock Pig was a thought-provoking read. I’d suggest this book to anyone who enjoys living in a “what-if” state of mind. Although, I’m sure a lot of people could learn something from this book if they kept an open mind.

It's clear you appreciated the author's confidence and the book's polished editing, yet you pinpointed how the "overbearing" and "pompous" tone, despite the author's credentials, impacted your enjoyment. Your comparison to past failed predictions like Y2K effectively illustrates why absolute certainty in predictions can be off-putting.

Indeed, there is a lot of uncertainty and every prediction will not always be accurate; as they say, foresight is limited. However, it is also true that an audience is likely to believe something more if the person spreading it is confident. Thank you for the insightful review, @Emily Walmsley.

You made some great points about the plot and characters. I hadn’t thought about it that way before. Thanks for sharing your perspective!
