The book is very intresting because when an author doesn't get straight to the point it makes the viwer more intrested in knowing what will happen in the end indeed it is a great story

Amazing review. The title, for some reason, is giving me Native American vibes. And the bear gives me Russia. Sarah Cooley sounds like a teenage me (although I was equally depressed and suicidal) but that's by the way.

It's always very interesting to read about other people's culture, learn their history. It builds a form of respect and admiration as well as expands the reader's worldview.

Still reading the review, but I've got to say...Sarah Cooley's grandfather's name is cute; Tom-tom.

For one, it's a really good review. I can tell the author made various research and read other related novels before writing this. It's well detailed and informative.

Dear Verna Coy,

Thank you for your review of "Totem" by Charlie Sheldon. Your detailed analysis of the book’s themes and characters provides a comprehensive understanding of what readers can expect.

I appreciate how you highlighted the continuous element of suspense and the intricate weaving of past and present narratives surrounding the indigenous peoples of the Pacific Northwest. It’s fascinating to see how the author uses the characters’ journey to delve into significant questions regarding history and climate change, which are particularly relevant in today’s context.

Your mention of the well-researched background regarding mining and Northwest history resonates with the importance of grounding fictional narratives in real-world issues. This not only enriches the story but also encourages readers to reflect on the preservation of traditions amidst modern challenges.

Furthermore, your comments on the character development, particularly that of Sarah, underscore the author’s ability to create relatable and dynamic characters. It’s refreshing to see a young protagonist depicted with complexity and strength.

I also appreciate your note on the book's accessibility for young adults, as it opens the door for younger readers to engage with important cultural and environmental themes without being overwhelmed by graphic content.

Overall, your review paints "Totem" as a compelling read that combines adventure with meaningful discourse. I look forward to exploring this book and the entire Strong Heart Series, as it seems to offer a rich tapestry of storytelling that resonates with both historical and contemporary issues.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts!

Best regards,

This is one of those book that take us away from our modern, techno-filled life to a life which was simpler, spiritual and free. I think this book is written with the young in mind, yet, by the sounds of the reviewers write-up, could be read by all ages.

"Totem" by Charlie Sheldon follows Sarah Cooley and her Grandfather Tom Tom and their journey in Bear Valley. This suspenseful adventure tells the history of her indigenous people and the mystery of what's happening. Is there a way to save the culture from the mining company and unlock the mystery too Great BOTD.

I have read Totem, like the reviewer, and found it enchanting. The reviewer did a great job of summarizing without giving anything away because like they said, "there were some unexpected surprises for me in this novel." Great job author, and reviewer!
