Review: Phoenix Rising - Karen Hesse

Post by [nette] »

Nyle Sumner was a normal thirteen year old girl from Vermont who lived with her grandmother on their sheep farm, until the nuclear accident in Cookshire occured, leaving everyone terrified of everything around them.

What was next to come had stunned Nyle, making her feel uncomfortable with the situation. Evacuees from the Cookshire accident had come to reside within the Sumner residency, occupying the back bedroom.

Although Nyle had disowned the evacuees, curiosity over took her initial ambition and she had come to know the evacuees as Mrs. Trent and her fifteen year old son Ezra.

Ezra had radiation poisoning, and every day he has to overcome the luring and comfortable promises of death. But Nyle has managed to keep Ezra alive by merely just accepting him.

Will that be enough for Ezra? Can he rise from the ashes of this tragic accident and overcome the scars left behind, and become the Phoenix that Nyle knows he can be?
