1929 Jonathan's Cross - Book One (The 1929 Series) by M.L. G

Post by Stasia »

1929 Jonathon’s Cross” is the first of 6 books in”The 1929 Series” by M.L. Gardner. This Historical Fiction book begins on the day of the stock market crash of 1929. Best friends, Jonathon, Caleb and Aryl have made a very successful and rich life investing in the market. The day of the crash, they loose everything. They have to return to their wives and leave ere affluent home and all it’s contents behind. They have to start over with nothing but their friendship.

These 3 couples; Jonathon and Ava, Aryl and Claire, Caleb and Arianna live life together, struggle together, cry together and strengthen each other as they learn to live life after the crash. This book revolves around their friendships and their journey to discovering what living the dream is really all about.

I love the 6 main characters. The 3 guys grew up together and persued a better life, they gained great success and then met total failure. Leaving one behind was not an option for these 3. Their wives are all unique and fun. The love they have for their husbands has brought them together and their friendship is solid.

The devastation they all feel leaves them vulnerable. Relationships from their past surface and cause them to dig in deep to fight for what they really want. There is a villain, a man Ava once dated, he tries very hard to destroy Jonathan while he is down. And thanks to his friends, he is able to survive the evil plans set against him.

What I love about this book is the strength of the main characters friendships. I love that they live life and work together so no one is left behind. I liked that everything they tried didn’t work out perfectly. There isn’t a perfect ending where they find themselves back on top. I liked that they made new friends along the way and included them into their lives.

This isn’t a thriller that starts with a mystery to solve. It isn’t a romance novel that starts with 2 completely different people that find their way to each other. It’s a life story full of friendship, love, loss, fear, romance, determination and twists and turns that leave you reading late into the night.

I give this book a 4 out of 4 because it kept me guessing. There wasn’t a moment when I thought Iknew what would come next and it left me wanting more. And a warning to any of yu who decide to check out “1929 Jonathon’s Cross,” it ends at a cliff and you’ll have to get the next book in the series!
