The Brdiges of Madison County by Robert James Waller

Post by book_reader »

I had heard a lot of good things about this book and finally got a chance to read it.

It is short and sweet. It is about a lonely woman (married with two kids) who falls in love with a traveler who visits her small town on an assignment. She has an intense, short affair with him. She decides not go away with him, owing to her responsibilities towards her family. The focus of the book is more on the emotional attachment of the man and the woman than the physical relationship.

The connect the main characters have, their relationship and their love towards each other is the best part about the book. The book reasserts that love is about putting your loved one ahead of you. If you believe in love, this book strengthens your belief and makes you fall in love all over again. A must read for the romantic at heart.

You know I watched such a film. I had no idea that there is a book. The film is gorgeous and I liked it a lot. I think the book is great too.

I am in a dilemma whether to watch the movie or not. I liked the book so much that I want to see the characters come alive on screen. On the other hand, I don't want to be disappointed if the movie doesn't turn out that good.

I read this short, sweet book once a year. It is a lovely read. I saw the movie and it was lovely as well.

I love the part where she thought what a simple gesture of kindness it was for him not to slam the screen door. Sometimes we take such little things for granted.
