On the Edge of Survival - My Grandfather's First Novel

Post by Shogunner »

Well my Grandfather (Age 75) wrote a book. It's finally starting to sell, and I'd love to help him. He raised me, and I really love him. He grew up in The Philippines, in the Visayas. At age 8 he lost his father, and a few years ago, he lost his mother. He's a great successful man, and I'd be honored to follow in his footsteps. When he was around 10, the Japanese conquered the Philippines. He'd tell me all of his stories about running away bare foot with his mother, and how the Japanese Soldiers would do things such as throwing babies in the air and catching them with bayonets. It was all very heartbreaking. He grew up in a very poor family, walked to school bare foot, lived very simply.

He grew up to become on of the top 3 students in the whole country, where he then got a scholarship to the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. From there, he went on to be a College Professor, then a worker for the world bank. He's a great man. Currently, as I write this, he's down stairs, eating Lunch, with my Grandmother, and my four year old first cousin. Whenever I hear them joke around, it brings joy to my heart, because, after all he's been through. At 75 years old, he's still one of the most joyful men I know today.

If you're interested in his book, you can check it out on Amazon.

I can't post the direct link since I do not meet criteria, so please, just search "On The Edge Of Survival by J. F. Zarandin" on Amazon.

Summary
Samuel Zantander, "Sam," is a young Filipino boy growing up during the 1940s when the Japanese threatened to overtake the entire Western Pacific Rim with the capture of Australia. American and Filipino forces thwarted the Japanese plan and their heroic defense angered the Japanese military which resulted in horrific treatment of Filipino citizens. J. F. Zarandin's On the Edge of Survival takes the reader to a time and place where war raged for four years and the struggle to simply stay alive was a part of a population's existence. Seen through the eyes of a young boy, Zarandin's narration is based on true-life events and chronicles the life of Sam and his family for the four-year period. This gritty and moving narration highlights what these proud people did to survive-avoiding capture, losing loved ones to sickness because of inadequate healthcare and supplies, and the aftermath of what the war did to the survivors. Written with insightful clarity and compassion, and from meticulous research and experience, Zarandin's novel is a beautiful and haunting tribute to the proud and strong Archipelago's residents and their heritage. Author Bio: J. F. Zarandin is a writer, retired college teacher and international civil servant involved in economic development in five continents and the Pacific Islands. Mr. Zarandin is currently writing three novels and lives in Las Vegas, Nevada. On the Edge of Survival is his first book.
If you order it, please do tell me! You'd have my gratitude. I've personally read the book, and it's a fantastic novel in my opinion. He's currently writing his second, and maybe later on in the year, his third.

So please, support my grand father, check out his book, you wouldn't just be helping me, you'd be adding to your collection of soon to be classics.
