Have you tried Stephen King and Dean Koontz? Both have an extensive back library of paranormal/horror books and there would surely be some book to satisfy your needs.

Also, up and coming horror writers like Adam Nevill and F G Cotham have acclaimed horror books out there at the moment.

If you're interested in science fiction/fantasy you could check out my new novel, "The Legacy of Balthazar". It's not horror, but it does contain 7 foot tall human looking aliens that wear armor and have seemingly magical abilities. I have to agree with Stephenkingman and say that both Dean koontz (try "Life Expectancy") and Stephen King are great. Try Greg Iles's "Blood Memory." If you're into suspenses, try "Wavering" by Virginia Frazier. It's the last book I've read, and I couldn't put it down once I started it.
