"The Road" by Cormac McCarthy

I just finished this book last night and I loved it. It's about a father & son together as they struggle to survive in a post apocalyptic world. It's engaging and real emotional and by the end I actually had tears in my eyes. I have not seen the movie version of the book but can't watch to watch.

Anyone else read it?

This is the same author of "No Country for Old Men" right. I need to check this out.

The Road is in my top five of all time.


A great book full of sadness, despair, and redemption.




And don't get me gushing about the poetics!

I just finished this one about a week or two ago. I thought the relationship between the father and son was absolutely beautiful. When McCarthy started writing about the mother I felt the tears. The ending was unbelievable. This is a book that I will never, ever be able to forget. However, I was not a fan of his writing style (sorry!!). But, if his other books have such amazing stories, I will definitely be able to get past his writing.

Which of his other books would you guys recommend reading next??

Tough to say.

I'd read Suttree, then Child of God, then Blood Meridian.



After that, jump into The Border Trilogy (All the Pretty Horses, The Crossing,

and Cities of the Plain). That will lead you to No Country for Old Men.



His other stuff didn't really leave an impression on me - stuff being The

Orchard Keeper and Outer Dark.
