This book deals with heavy and crucial societal issues. It's worth reading.

While I greatly enjoy stories written diary-style, I do not care for heavy marital drama, so I'll pass on reading Angie and George's story.

Though this book sounds interesting, it isn't what I typically read. I sure didn't like the F-Bomb on the first page. The review mentions it sets the tone for how the book delivers. Not my type. Family drama is too close to home.

It sounds like a soap opera, which can be fun if I'm in the mood for that sort of thing. Thank you for the excellent review.

The synopsis of the review is quite good. I am satisfied by just reading the review, however, marriage issues is not yet good for me right now. I am glad about the bond of friendship, which is a great o Aggie. :tiphat:

The book started with an argument between George and Angie, the married couple who are the primary characters. They both accuse each other of not being helpful and loving in the marriage. The reviewer mentioned that the book is mostly told from Angie's viewpoint, which is a problem, I think. That gives a one-sided list of complaints from Angie.

I agreed with another reviewer who said she would not really like to read the book because of the constant arguing.

I do believe, Mr. P that this is the first one of your reviews that I've read and very pleased to have. It was smooth flowing, well excavated and well expressed.

What I thought was clever about the book (I read the Sample before checking out your review) is that I thought the book would focus on Susan and Nigel because that's who George and Angie were fighting about. But nooooo. It's the old "bait and switch".

The only thing I wish you had mentioned was the amount of swearing going on right from the first sentences. And the majority of it is blasphemy (using God or Jesus Christ as a swear word). For the majority of Christians (myself included) that would be a deal breaker, no matter how great the story is.

But since your review had no swearing, I'll be looking forward to reading many, many more from you. 😏😇

Sincerely, LL
And they sang a new song saying,
"You are worthy to take the book,
and to open its to seals,
for You were slain and have redeemed us to God,
by your blood, out of every tribe and tongue and people and Nation." Rev. 5:9

This book is really touching, there are times in life when I do think that I was going through the worst of challenges, sometimes I try to mingle with friends to have fun and in other to escape my depression, but to no avail. Reading this book gave me a new scope altogether making me know that your hell can be seen as heaven to other people, and what seems to you as worst might just be a tip of the iceberg of the troubles faced by others.

To be honest, I don't care for the sample. The f-word right off the bat kind of put me off. I don't necessarily enjoy books with relationship drama, so I think I'll pass. Congrats in BOTD just the same.

The story is narrated from Angie's point of view, and there were chapters that were written in a diary-like format. This format helped Angie express her thoughts and feelings very clearly, and this will draw readers closer to Angie as it is very easy to relate to most of her feelings. However, this subjective form of writing influenced my bias against George, as I stayed on Angie's side of almost every argument.
This, indeed, is a "risk" of not using alternating perspectives, but it's also a great way to go really in-depth into the narrator's psyche.
It seems like exactly the kind of insightful novel I love.
Thank you!

The review is quite marvelous. What mainly caught my attention and that I appreciate about the drama-filled book is that friendship is what helped Angie get through the hard times and that despite those trying times, there was never a dull moment in the book. I however would have also loved it if George's perspective would have been shown but all in all, this is an interesting book.
