i want this book at first sight. so reading this review only made me excited. who wouldn't want an "spellbinding read"? moreover, as a criminology student, i think this would be an inspiring read for me. lookinh forward to meeting the female protagonist and knowing more of those military terms. great review as always.

Great review. I only read a sample of the book, but your review brought it all together. I especially enjoyed the quote at the end. Again, thank you for the review!

Great review. When a review begins with words like “Emotional. Compelling. Intense. Brilliant.” You want to read farther. This military story sounds really interesting. A young woman joining the marines and her experiences told in flashes like that of a camera sound very intriguing. This is definitely going on my TBR. Congrats to the author on a great review. Thanks so much for sharing.

It's a very serious change in life for a teenage girl just after her graduation party. It must have been really important for her to go against her mother's wishes and become a marine photographer instead of continuing her career as a beauty peagant contestant. It will be interesting to read about and understand the world of the military from a woman's point of view. Congratulations on becoming BOTD!

Semper fidelis. The Marines have a proud history. What drove a beauty queen to embrace the unglamorous career of a soldier? Like most careers, it is a calling. Will Molly survive? I need to know.

The novel is very intriguing, and definitely a new plot is offered. I have yet encountered this type of story, so this one surely tops my bookshelves!

Thanks for the interesting review. When I first saw the cover and title of this book I thought it was a military memoir. As I read more I quickly learned that this book is fiction, but still military focused. I like that the main character is a photographer. I think that it will give the reader a different perspective. I'm on the fence about reading this book but I'll try a few pages and see where it goes.

Going from being a model to joining the marine corps sounds really interesting. The book cover pretty much summarizes the book well. I'll love to read this. Thank you for the detailed review.

I added this book to my not interested in reading shelf. From beauty pageants to marine corps is certainly an interesting plot just don’t like the military/war aspect of it.

Based on the review this book sounds fascinating. I like that the main character follows her heart and does not let what others think stop her. I’ll add this one to my to read shelf.

The quote epitomizes the special bond of female friendship, most especially in extreme circumstances such as wartime. The book itself gives a unique perspective of a female cameraperson during wartime. Molly plays a role in the experience while still being an observer suggesting a riveting dichotomy. Since she is both in the adventure and outside of it at the same time, which no doubt makes for its own set of internal conflicts.
