Thank you for the thoughtful and insightful review of this book. I enjoy some romantic fiction and this book does sound like it has a decent adventure angle to it as well which piques my interest a bit. My first thought when I saw the cover was that it sounded more like a business-style story, but it sounds like it's more. I do like the historical aspect, but I'm still on the fence concerning this book. It doesn't grab my attention so I think I'll read a few pages and see where it takes me.

This sounds like an interesting historical fiction that takes place during the goldrush. I love that the historical detail is great and that it feels like a treasure hunt! Congrats on the book of the day! Great review.

I like the historical aspects of this romance novel, but I don’t know if the complexity will interest me as much. I’ll think about it.

It seems to me that this book is not so much tale of woman independence as the family saga about how our fortune were earned. Not what I usually prefer to read, unfortunately. Congratulation on BOTD, all the same!

You have written another excellent review, Cecilia! There seems to be a lot going on in this novel - from gold mining to boardroom politics. I think I will give it a try. Thanks again for the review.

I thought this was a well written review. I like that you pointed out an inconsistency but reassured the potential reader that it didn't detract from the story line. I do enjoy historical fiction. I also enjoy stories with a strong female lead. However, the fact that her character wasn't as fully developed as the others makes me take pause. I wonder if because the author is male, he had a hard time connecting with the character. As for the romance aspect, this review didn't sell me on it. I don't want to read anything resembling a Harlequin romance and it sounds like, from the review, that this novel may be just that. I'd have to read more of the reviews before I would commit to adding this one to my reading list.

Alhough the romance aspect of the story seems common, the adventure part of searching for the Lost Pants Mine piqued my curiousity. Hmm...intriguing, interesteing and it even sounds funny. Congrats!

A historical fiction of the romantic adventure of Mackenzie and Greta seems interesting. Blending romance and history makes this more fun. However, I'll pass on this one. This is a great review as usual.

The lack of character development with Greta is off putting. But the historical fiction aspect is interesting! Well done on your review

I think the historical roots and gold mining might be the most adventuresome aspects to draw a reader initially. The role of women in history as opposed to now will no doubt make it more interesting. Thanks for the great review!

I read romance novels on occasion but I think I'll pass on this one. As interesting as the book sounds, Greta's weak characterization is a deal breaker for me. It sounds like you really enjoyed the book. Thanks for the insightful review.

The book is a romantic book with a historical root to the 1840s-1860s gold rushes. The different aspect life (betrayal, ambition, secrets etc.) that they faced to strengthen their love life is really compelling. Great review!
