As a reader who typically dislikes books about academic nastiness (as a clinical psychologist I lived with it) and loves trashy thrillers (that's what I write) I wouldn't have picked up this book, but this review could change my mind.

I find this kinda conflict fascinating. No doubt there is nothing more important than family, but career is what allows person to provide it best with everything necessary. I am really interested if there is a way to maintain balance. Thank you for recommendation!

I like the plot and overall flow of this story. I am not usually the one to enjoy reading about romance novels, but this one certainly grabbed my attention. There is a lot of characters in this story as well as multiple story lines that would keep readers interested. I also like the banter back and forth between CJ and her husband.

Work-life balance is something that I am still working on. And that's the reason this book resonates with me. I hope I will read this one after I finish my current read. Btw, congratulations on being selected as BOTD!

After reading this review, I totally want to read this book. I can relate to workaholic relationships and academic life. I like when a book can show how people can be intelligent and capable in academics and their careers and be totally clueless with personal relationships.

It is amazing that someone would focus so totally on their career that they would forget about their marriage for years, and then just turn up one day and expect that their spouse would be available. That fact alone made C.J. an interestingly flawed character. This is an enjoyable read.

I enjoy character-driven books. The balance between work and career is hard to maintain, let alone having the personal problems CJ is dealing with. I am adding to my want-to
-read shelf for sure. Great review! 🙂

This book seems to have some juicy bits with drama and thought-provoking advice. I like that the reader gets to experience life as a university faculty member. I've heard that it can be extremely competitive. Great review!

Ahh, the inner turmoil. I love a bit of inner turmoil. It´s a relief to know things like that don´t just happen to me. Nice review, thanks. Very bright and breezy.

They said if one aspect of your life is booming, then the other one must be suffering. This statement looks true in CJ's case. I'm intrigued on how she will handle her dilemma with her husband. Thanks for a wonderful review!

We must understand that when it comes to relationships the galactically intelligent are just as vulnerable and clueless as the rest of us. I am glad that this very human fragility was captured in this novel. I am also happy that the book is so character driven.
