Neglected by his own father, Paul Peterson strives to be the good dad that he never had. Making that goal even more difficult is muddling through divorce and weekend custody. This heartwarming story features Peter and his son as they navigate their way through the Cub Scout Pinewood Derby. This story brought so many memories back since I was a Cub Scout mom with two sons, and we endured 8 Pinewood Derbies. My heart went out to Paul. Great book review!

I don't have any divorce experience, so I don't I could relate to Paul here. And from what I read, he seems to endangered his own son because of his pride. I don't know, I don't think this book resonate well with me. Anyway, thanks for the review.

First and foremost, I must say that I love the cover. There's just something about it that makes it look so peaceful. However, the story itself sounds like all but peaceful. I can't think it's easy to deal with a divorce especially if you didn't want it in the first place, so I'm curious to see if and how Paul manages to deal with this and whether he gets to a point where he can move forward and be happy. Thanks for the review. Congrats on BOTD.

He's more myself than I am. Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same.

The sample hinted at realistic portrayal of emotions from a male perspective. The title is certainly intriguing. The patriarchal setting of modern day society makes it its mission to ensure the general paradigm that the average male cannot sufficiently express feelings. That they shouldn't express them. Congratulations on the BOTD.
