The story begins with Dr. Lawson on a trip to Saudi Arabia for four weeks at the request of Princess Safiyyah. Dr. Lawson felt that this trip would help him forget about Sandra, his finance who told him she did not want to be a doctor’s wife and move on with his life. Being an American, Dr. Lawson was used to people having human rights and freedom of expression. Saudi Arabia does not allow people living in or visiting their country the same rights that people have in America. His arrival in Riyadh did not start well when customs questioned him reading a book about the crown prince. The author drops clues throughout the story that culminate at the end with the mystery being solved. One needs to read the book to learn about what Dr Lawson experienced during his stay in Saudi Arabia.

That is what happens in "A Reckoning of Wolves" by Judy Higgins. Dr. Lawson goes to Saudi Arabia to help heal his heartbreak. What he finds is a mystery and he confronts many restraints on personal freedoms in that place.
