In this fictitious story, the unpredictable and adventurous journey of Gertie begins in Houston, and how circumstances lead her to land in Afghanistan seems worth reading this thrilling novel.

Easy and relatable: The tone is casual and light, which makes it feel like you're getting a recommendation from a friend. It's accessible and not overly formal. The plot hooks you: The story, with its quirky twists (women’s wrestling group, Afghanistan adventure, Taliban kidnapping), is told in a way that definitely grabs attention. It's weird, but in a good way. Fun characters: The review does a great job of showing how interesting the characters are. Gertrude sounds like someone you can root for, and the side characters seem equally entertaining. Not just laughs: It’s cool that the review points out the mix of humor with deeper themes, making it clear the book isn’t just fluff. Personal touch: The review has a genuine vibe, with clear admiration for the story and characters, which makes the praise feel more authentic. Strong recommendation: The "5 out of 5" rating feels deserved, and the reviewer’s excitement about the book is infectious. The review is fun, laid-back, and makes you want to pick up the book. Perfect for catching a reader’s interest without overcomplicating things.

James Hanna's writing strikes the perfect balance between humor and absurdity with Gertie's misadventures leading to genuinely laugh out Loud moments and also subtly addresses deeper themes like wars, womens rights and personal choices adding layers of meaning beneath the comedy.

This witty, entertaining story takes readers on a wild ride. The lead character, Lizzie, is a pitiful ex-convict determined to change her life. She joins a Christian wrestling team where she blossoms and receives numerous opportunities. How did Lizzie end up in Afghanistan and what does the future hold? Read the book to find out.

Hi @Ashwani Dhiman, I just read your comments on the official review of “Lights Out Lizzie” by James Hanna and I would encourage you to provide more detail so members are motivated to read the book. This a story about Gertie McDowell, who is 24 years old and recently released from prison. When she meets up with her old friend Wanda Sue, she never imagined that she was going to join a Christian women’s wrestling group. Gertie was such a great member of this group that she went to Houston and became the reigning champion. Gertie went with the World Wrestling Production on a tour to put on a show to entertain the troops in Afghanistan When she arrived in Kandahar she was kidnapped by the Taliban. What else could go wrong? Per the official reviewer, this book is a comedic gem with a nice balance between humor and craziness. Gertie’s misadventures are very funny since she is so naïve. This is a laugh-out-loud book that all readers will enjoy. I look forward to the rest of the book.
