Dodging Satan by Kathleen Zamboni McCormick seems like quite the interesting read! Despite being Christian (Protestant) I think I'll enjoy the satirical side of this. From the review, Bridget reminds me a good friend of mine! She's all about questioning systemic bias/oppression. Can't wait to read it myself! :D Thanks for the review kimmyschemy06!

Dodging Satan: My Irish/Italian Sometimes Awesome But Mostly Creepy Childhood by Kathleen Zamboni McCormick is a humorous coming-of-age fiction and theological satire narrated in the first person perspective of Bridget Flagherty. I'm torn between reading and setting this book aside. I'm glad you enjoyed reading this book. Thanks for the detailed review.

Your review is very nicely written, and I can tell you enjoyed it very much. I really didn't need the warning at the end because you explained the concept of the book so well! Thanks for reviewing; I'll probably skip reading this one.

If the main character reminds you of Anne Shirley, I think I'll like this one. Especially since this seems like a coming of age story and I like the idea of a character like this one slumming it up at a Catholic School.

This already sounded great to me and then you went and mentioned Anne Shirley. Now I know I need to read it!

humorous yet serious sounds good. Anne Shirley from Anne of Green Gables is one of my most favorite characters ever so if Bridget reminds you so much of her then i think i like her already. good job on the review!

When I first read the title for this book, I didn't think that this book would be one that would interest me. Needless to say, I was ready to say "pass." I like that the author makes the character so engaging and makes this a book that will pique the reader's interest from the beginning. I look forward to reading. Thank you for the interesting review.

I like your review and I do agree with Bridget's questioning of the Catholic faith. Religion is a positive way of seeing meaning in your life, but can become traumatizing when figures of authority take advantage of their flock. I also think that women should have a broader role in the Church not just that of wife and mother. Domestic violence is an issue that must be addressed because it damages the entire family.

The editors note clearly demonstrate the importance of a review that is honest and unbiased.
Well, for the girl to question the faith especially of the Roman Catholic church, it is quite amazing.
The humor in this book may be criticised as an anti church. Thanks for the review.

I couldn't help but chuckle as I read the first few pages. I'm really worried that I will find some parts offensive but I'm intrigued to read more...Haha, I guess I'll have to be cautious going forward with this novel.

I usually find books written in the first person narrative of a child or young adult captivating. I believe it takes extra skill on the part of the author to pull it off. Bridget sounds like an interesting character. Thanks for the lovely review.

From the review, the book seems interesting. The whole secret thing, holy cards, repeling of satan and his snakes seems cool.
