While some of the themes mentioned in the review that are included in this book are not something I normally look for in a book, I would be willing to give this book a shot.
Mad Hatter: "Have I gone mad?"
Alice: "I'm afraid so. You're entirely bonkers. But I'll tell you a secret. All the best people are.”

After reading the sample of the book then reading the review, it helps me very little with how the book proceeds after what I read in the sample. The review was lacking to me, maybe I was just expecting more of a better summary of the book? Not sure.

I like books with great character development. The plot sounded cliche though but I guess it doesn't matter because the character is the main focus of the author. Also, the snippets about mental health also interested me. Thanks for this review!

I am quite intrigued to read this book which has a bit of romance, drama and everything else. It foremost seems to be about relationships. I loved the thorough review and I am sure, I will enjoy the book too.

I love how honest you were when informing the readers that the book can be difficult to get into. I enjoy that this prepares the reader to sit down and get invested in the novel before ever starting it. I also enjoyed that you were effective in explaining the 'other' genre title. Many readers can be quick to discard a book because of a romance or murder genre. This book seemed very interesting and with a good plot line. Great review.

I wonder what tragedy struck that changes how Bernie lives his life? It is great to hear that even on the verge of losing everything, Bernie is able to find himself. Romance, murder, and mystery? Sounds like an interesting tale indeed. Too bad that the beginning was hard to follow, but I'm glad it got better as the story continued. I like when you can connect with characters, and I'm glad this was the case here. Glad there was good character development, great imagery, and that the writing was well done. Thanks for sharing!

Even though I like romance and mystery, I think that I'm going to pass on this one. If I have to wait until the of the book for it to make sense, it's just not worth it. This one is a no from me.

A book with different genres combined in one story. I read the sample and I say that the book is well-written. I like the author's writing style. She constructed the plot in a step by step manner.
As for the graphic violence on both human and animals, maybe the author added it for the reason to raise the audience's awareness. Great review by the way.

I think this sounds like a great read. it sounds like there is a lot going on and may be a little hard to follow in the beginning, but once you get through that first part, it sounds like there is a great story to be read. I will be adding this to my list of books to read. Thanks for the review.

I am glad that this book seemed to be a good one, however, I don't think it is for me. I don't usually enjoy books that have a slow start. I am one that if the book doesn't hook me within the first few chapters, I usually don't sit down and continue to tackle the book.

Sounds like a strange mish-mash of genres. I don't think it would be my type of book, but I want to commend you on making it through 400+ pages and leaving us this detailed review. Thank you!

This book sounds like it might be good. Bernie seems to be an interesting character. I would have to read more of it to get into it more. It does seem to have a lot going on in the book. All the subplots would probably confuse me. thank you for the good review.

There is so much going on in this book, it could really be hit or miss. I find several references to the content that certainly turn my head away from reading, especially as it pertains to graphic sexual and violent content as well as violence toward animals. Big no for me, although I do like the idea of many storylines and a flawed protagonist. Great review.

I really enjoyed seeing how real the main character was. He is someone with flaws, just like any one of us. The slow start might put off many, though. I'd surely read this one till the end.
