The girls must have been having a worse experience then when they were seen as objects. I admire the author display of masculinity as the boy child may also become obliterated by the feminist tendencies that are being permeated across the globe.

The sixties were also special moments when parents took responsibility over their children's lives and conduct. Nowadays we have concerns that the parental roles may have been abdicated to the schools and media.

This calls for a balance when addressing gender disparities.
Thanks for the great review.

It is an important review as it talks about some of the social pressures plaguing our world nowadays especially sexuality.

Thank you for the great review! This sounds like an interesting read. Most people can relate to pressure in their teen years. I will put it on my list.

All the issues portrayed in the book are extremely relatable in present day and in dire need to be discussed more. I'm glad the author had the courage to do so.

"It's not a happy story." - this actually convinced me the most that this book should be in my library as it was fittingly realistic with heavy themes like sexuality, misogyny, and toxic masculinity. i'm so looking forward to such a remarkably moving story. great review!

Thanks for your review. You give a very clear idea of what this book is about and what it is like. It definitely addresses some difficult themes and it sounds like the characterization of Brian was very well done.

I like that it addresses an issue that is as relevant today as it was in the 60s. I'll definitely look this up.

Hmm, I read the first few pages of Playing Hurt by Gerald L Nardella, and realized this isn't the kind of book I am interested in reading. However, your review was excellent, and I am glad you were able to relate to it.

I'm impressed that it's only 16 pages. After reading the sample I assumed that it would be a lot longer. The characters are intriguing, and the plot is encompassing enough to keep the reader engaged.

I like that it is a story about coming-of-age and adolescence, even though the characters do seem a lot older at certain points in the novel.

A very apt review, thank you!

I'm honestly so glad to see that the book realistically relays the trials and tribulations that teens and adolescents face in their high school years, as many books often paint a perfect, un-awkward world that is not at all realistic and is certainly not relatable. I'm additionally glad that the novel addresses the very real presence of certain social pressures like toxic masculinity and peer pressure in its various forms. Awesome review! I'm glad you liked the read.
