Heck yeah. You tell her. (Well, she told her, but you know what I mean.)

It's great when the annoying people can be silently laughed at for their antics!!

You should definitely keep us posted on all things pertaining to the Annoying One.

Everyone else is nice and respectful toward each other, even though we are an eclectic mix of people. She just gets under everyone's skin for many different reasons, although she doesn't come to the meetings too often.

Thanks! Really nice group and I've become close friends with a few of the women. One nice bonus is I've read several books that were great, even though they were not books I would have normally selected on my own.

You're welcome! I've had those exact same benefits on this site, minus knowing anyone in person! :-)

Still enjoyable! The good news is you don't have to rush to get to the meetings on time. :)

I'm totally going to enter the giveaway! Loved the review. Books with a little bit of mystery and romance are my cup of tea! :)

To anyone who wins the giveaway, please take the time to read and review the book, for the author's sake! I put my books in a GR giveaway once, and two of them immediately wound up for sale by the winners, who also had other giveaway books listed for sale. It was discouraging. Thank you!

Oops--I didn't mean that as a slight against you, Jesska! I know you'd never do that! :-)

That doesn't seem ethical, to win a book in a giveaway and then sell it!

Yeah, I was steaming mad at GR, and that's why I'm not presently linked to my author's acct there. Their parent web site is Amazon, which is where these books went for sale. I suspect that they feed books into some re-sellers hands to benefit Amazon. I can't prove it, of course, but that they claim to us writers to pick the winners with care, and like I said, two of my winners were clearly in the resell business. But then on the same site, they tell the winners that they'll be chosen by random draw. :angry-screaming:

I hope you win too, Jesska! Keep us posted!

Wow! I had no idea Amazon controlled Goodreads! Even though Amazon is so huge, I guess I always view it as The Little Engine That Could since it was originally a start-up company that grew over time.

Yep, if you go to the main amazon homepage, and scroll all the way down, they list their "children" sites, and GR is there.

Interesting info! I always thought Goodreads was some type of indie site.

Aha! Nope. Also, they never let you edit your self-published book once you enter it (and someone else can enter your book too). I've got old book covers there, which I can't fix. I can't modify the slightly wrong "FT" blurb or cover either. It's all controlled by their "librarians." Very sinister.

I usually only use Goodreads to track the books I read. I belong to a GR group where you make a reading goal for the year and then just post the books as you finish them. Easy peasy. The rest of the site is not as user-friendly, in my opinion. When I add a book I've already read in the "My Books" read, it automatically makes the Date Added as today's date. It becomes confusing because the date added and date finished will be the same. I once had an author actually email me about this very issue - he he thought it was strange that I read his 350-page book in 15 minutes since the date/time for finishing the book was 15 minutes after adding it. I had to explain that I often add the book after I've already read it, and there is no way on GR to back date the add date.

Anyway, since this topic is about Taken Away, I hope a few of the members here enter and win the Taken Away contest the author is holding!
