This sounds like an excellent read and luckily, the book is temporarily free on Amazon Kindle. I would like to try it for myself. Thanks for the detailed review.

At first, I read the title, saw the author was male and scoffed. What does a man know about a woman's prerogative? I'm glad I read the review. This is a romantic adventure set during the gold rush.

For me, this was a beautiful book. Love romance and adventures. I have recommended this book to some of my friends. It reminded me a little bit of my courting days with my husband. To the author, continue your marvelous work and blessings to you.

This novel seems to be unique in terms of narrative. Normally with a plot like this, the romance would be in the background while the adventure plot line would be at the foreground, so I think that's very interesting. However it's a shame Greta wasn't better developed as I feel romance novel should have the best developed main characters of all the genres

This is the third historical fiction novel related to gold mining and romance that has been posted by BOTD during the last one month. I wonder how it is different from the rest. Thanks for the thorough review.

Greta's character would probably bug me so I'll skip this one

I usually enjoy romance, although I'm not much of a fan of treasure hunting adventures. Furthermore, I think it's a bit disappointing that the main female character is the one that's not well fleshed out. I understand the author is male and it must be hard to get insight into the female mind but if I can't relate to the character I usually can't enjoy the story much.
Thank you for your honest review.

Brandt's portrayal of the gold mining adventure was particularly engaging. As one who is not usually drawn to the typical hunting for treasure sagas, I was pleasantly surprised by how captivating this portion of the story was. He did an excellent job of propelling the story through Alex's academic research coupled with Frank's expertise as a seasoned prospector.
Sounds a well-written novel filled with adventure and romance; I am sure readers who are interested in gold mining will enjoy it! Even though Greta wasn't a relatable character, I am glad Quid, Alex, and Frank were well developed. Plus, it is a well-edited book. It is a pity about that inconsistency you found, though. Unfortunately, I don't think this novel is for me but got my copy. Thank you for the outstanding review! :tiphat:

Sounds like an engaging read for those interested in romance novels :). Gold mining as a background of a story and well developed characters make this book even more interesting. Great review!

Thanks for the review, but I don't care for romantic adventures, and this one involving gold mining will not be the exception.

The plot of this historical novel seems to have a nice combination of romance, adventure and the California Gold rush of 1849.

It seems that the search for an infamous Lost Pants Gold Mine intertwined with Alex and Greta's relationship and all the other things that happen (kidnapping, bankruptcy, blackmail, and betrayal) would make this story have variety and interesting points to be worth reading. Nice review.

Hmm. I normally love historical fiction, but this one sounds too dry for my tastes. Anything that includes the phrase "prove themselves professionally" is almost automatically not my cup of tea, and I've never liked reading about the ins and outs of business deals, especially when they intertwine with love affairs. I'm glad you enjoyed it, but I think I'll pass. Thanks for the review.
