Thank you so much, skindrukas, your comments are heartwarming. I hope you check the book out someday!skindrukas wrote: ↑21 Feb 2019, 17:56 My mom says that all women gain an extra eye of wisdom at the age of 40 or so.
Your review is very thorough. I love your writing style. It is perfectly fit to review this book and it gave an impression on the book's mood, or at least this is what I thought after reading the review. A book worth keeping in mind, in my opinion.

Nice going, Cotwani! But I'm afraid you'll have to try again, ha! The book sure has some many fun facets, I really didn't want it to end. Thanks for revving up that cute guess!

Leave it to Felicia to keep changing her last names and creating an unusual geneology. I'm sure an edited copy would go a long way in making the book more appealing to readers' eyes.LV2R wrote: ↑22 Feb 2019, 04:50What a long name for someone to have, though I see it's because Felicia has been married four times. I like that the author wrote good dialogue and described the characters well. I hope the book will get edited and the errors will be corrected.Vickie Noel wrote: ↑08 Feb 2019, 23:31 Gambling for Good Mail by Evelyn Cole is a light-hearted, down-to-earth novel about Felicia Thorpe a.k.a. Felicia Felleto/Papadakis/Haggarty/Wood who, obviously, finds it easier to stash up junk items from the mail into her spare room than maintain a husband; she’s had four and is on the prowl for the next one.

I quite agree, Kajori50, humour can never be underestimated. What's life, anyway, if we don't get to laugh out loud from our stomachs? Thanks for pitching in.Kajori50 wrote: ↑22 Feb 2019, 06:53I think this made the book all the more enjoyable. Felicia and Cat's story seems to be an interesting one.The best part of this book was the humor jumping right out from the onset. The author so generously applied wit and idiomatic expressions that I often found myself laughing out loud at various character conversations, even when they weren’t actually trying to be funny.
Thank you for the great review.

I agree! I'm not yet 40, so I wouldn't know for sure, but it's a popular adage and I guess Felicia has helped in proving that there's some truth to that (or at least the author did). Thanks for reading!InStoree wrote: ↑22 Feb 2019, 06:57Now, that was funny! : lol: You were right! I've instantly started to laugh. Felicia was addicted, but definitely she was not a thief. I think the book is worth reading because of the female self-discovery course but for humor too. It is said that women reach her 'orgasm' of life at around 40, but I think it really depends on each. Women are not standard. Thank you for a detailed and humoristic review!Vickie Noel wrote: ↑08 Feb 2019, 23:31
The best part of this book was the humor jumping right out from the onset. The author so generously applied wit and idiomatic expressions that I often found myself laughing out loud at various character conversations, even when they weren’t actually trying to be funny. For instance, Uncle Howard, old and forgetful, kept asking about her first husband even though Felicia was fresh out of husband number four (page 115) [...] Among other things, she’d said, “…and I never stole a thing in my life—except maybe a husband or two. Always gave them back, dammit" (page 45).

Exactly, it's never too late to make a change in life. This is a source of encouragement for people under unnecessary pressure to be a certain way at a certain age. Once there's life, anything's possible. Thanks for your contributions.

Wow, I'm so humbled my your generous words, thank you so much. You've surmised all angles accurately, and I can't wait to read your review on the book when you've read it yourself! I've got a feeling there'll be lots of fun discussions emanating from it. Till then!Lunastella wrote: ↑16 Mar 2019, 06:21 I sometimes get the feeling that we're all "faking it until we make it" in adulthood and "coming-of-age" doesn't just happen suddenly and irreversibly. I'm glad to read books with flawed and chaotic characters like Felicia. It seems like both female characters are realistic and complicated and I enjoy books that don't portray the classic catty relationship between females but a more complex and realistic one. The humor and wit in this novel seem right up my alley. I'll sure be adding this book to my to-read shelf!

Thanks for popping in.ParadoxicalWoman wrote: ↑02 Apr 2019, 03:50 I appreciate how thorough this review is. While I was reading it, I'm impressed with these 2 women Caitland and Felicia. Like you, I feel like I want to study both of these women too on how they deal with the difficulties of life.
