A great book with character development. I can't wait to read about Rachel and Ruth's friendship. Congrats on Botd.

I would give this book a read. A story of a widowed woman trying to make ends meet with the help of her friend sounds like a mid-life crisis tale. But when you add criminal activity and a suspicious vindictive neighbor makes it more interesting. Congrats to the author for BOTD selection.

The book indeed seems humorous beginning with the cover. I'll love to learn what crimes they could conceive and commit and see how the story unfolds. Thanks for a detailed review

Rachel and her husband are described at the beginning of the book as living in Minnesota and they are tired of the cold winters so they would like to move west. California is too expensive and the risk of earthquake is too great so they decide to move to Oregon. This book is an absolutely hilarious book with a surprising twist at the end. The 280-page novel is written from the third-person point of view, mostly from Rachel and Vivian’s perspectives. The author’s straightforward, descriptive prose comes across as a little crude at times, but it fits the personalities of the characters. An example is when their drain fields froze while in Minnesota, causing them to construct a temporary, illegal outhouse from “a cardboard and lathe freezer crate”: “He built the bench so high that when she sat on the icy platform her feet dangled uncomfortably. She contracted an intestinal bug and suffered from the green-drizzling s**ts for an entire week, expressing her scathing opinion of the frigid region on the toilet walls with a red marker.” I enjoyed the free sample and the official review was very thorough and highlighted the crazy things Rachel and Vivian did in Oregon. A fun book that will be added to my reading list.

What stands out for me in this book is the relationships between Rachel and her husband, Nick, and Rachel and her friend, Ruth. I'd love to see if and how Ruth's friendship helped Rachel cope with her husband's situation and after his death as well.

As Rachel and Ruth brainstorm to solve Rachel's problem, the last thing they need is a nosy and envious neighbor lurking around. The connections and interactions between Rachel, Ruth, and Vivian sound like pure fiction gold. This sounds like a good book.

The humorous element and the author's style of writing suggest to me this novel will be a most satisfying read. I definitely am one of those people who will get a kick out of the funny situations this pair of females find themselves in. A Few Trivial Felonies sounds to me like a must-read. Thanks for the great review.

A Few Trivial Felonies is a light and easy read. I truly appreciate the fact that the book is very well-edited and the chapters are short. The language used by the author is also very descriptive and mater of fact. The reader is introduced to three separate families, each of whom seems to have intriguing pasts.

It seems from early on that all three families may come into contact with one another and have an impact on one another as well. There are some slight sexual connotations however. As such, this book may be more appropriate for readers aged 16 years and older. I do recommend it.

Awesome review! I definitely want to read this one. Thank you!

Today's BOTD is a fun, engaging fictional novel that's filled to the brim with laugh-out-loud humor. Readers will feel right at home with the two well-developed main characters as they plot and scheme their way to "the good life," even if it means breaking the law. Thank you again for the great review!! :-)

'Official Review: A Few Trivial Felonies' by Sandra Sperling is a fascinating account of the comic story of the book! The readers would feel greatly entertained to read the story of two women who didn't mind breaking a few rules to find a solution to their problems of life! The point that the author's straightforward, descriptive prose fits the personalities of the characters is worth mentioning in the review! The issues raised in the review have been well tied together towards the ending! Nice to learn that the humor represented the reviewer's favorite aspect of the book!
