Thank you for the insightful review of 'The Fish House' by G. L. Rockey I've read the first few pages of this book, and I agree with the reviewer. I enjoyed the light humorous style. I found a really odd error early in the book that kept me from wanting to read any furtherrespectfully pass on this book. Congratulations

Editing errors can be corrected, hopefully a next round of editing can take care of that. I like the story line but am not into deep philosophical insights so the book probably is not for me.

I share your sentiment about the abrupt change in style. While both narrative parts were interesting, the transition felt a bit jarring. Despite this, the book's moderate length was a plus for me, allowing for a comprehensive exploration of the plot without dragging on. Overall, it was still an engaging read.

The character interactions, especially the therapy sessions between Rick and Sami, were a standout for me too. Exploring deep topics like existence, God, and human nature through their conversations provided a fascinating layer to the story. Sami's insights, especially in Chapter 55, left me pondering long after finishing the book.

I'm curious about Rick's challenges especially after his biological father left. Thanks for the review.

Hi @Olga Markova, this is an interesting story about a young man finding his meaning of life. The slang language made the story a little hard to follow but it was easy to see Rick's life was headed in a bad direction. Hopefully the therapy sessions will right his ship and he will find happiness. @Mrlefty0706

Thank you for your comprehensive review of "The Fish House" by G. L. Rockey. Your detailed insights provide a thorough understanding of the novel's strengths and areas for improvement.

I appreciate your positive remarks about the author's captivating writing style. The use of simple language and occasional incorporation of slang, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of an old mafioso recounting events, adds a unique charm to the narrative. The engaging interactions between characters, particularly the therapy sessions between Rick and Sami, showcase a fascinating exploration of various thought-provoking topics.

Thanks for the review! You have me wondering what sort of tragedy struck, but of course that would be spoilers. Sounds interesting! Sometimes, reading how characters deal with tragedies can help us deal with our real life tragedies. Or at least help us feel less alone.

It is quite unfortunate that Rick has to face a lot of life struggles, and everything also turned negative when Julie Valach, his love wanted to assist revive his stepfather's business. I would love to know how the psychologist will help Rick out of this mental stress and life challenges. Great review.

The Fish House by G L Rockey is a peek into the rocky fields of first love that leaves the teenage Carmella DeAngelo smitten and pregnant. Married to a run away husband in a forced shotgun marriage, she delivers at home and works as a waitress to sustain her child in her maternal home. Following the husband,Leo Moscano, to New Orleans for the brighter future leaves her heartbroken, jobless and penniless with a child to tend to. She lands a job as a waitress at the Fish House where the owner, Sid Carlson, proposes to her and adopts Rick. Rick has spelling issues prompting transfer from Biloxi public school to Ambrose Academy where he commits several offences which did not earn him the expulsion he craved for but a weeks of jug. The excerpt I have read has left me wondering whether Rick will live a successful life or a life marred by the parents' life. Great Review

I would want to understand whether the troubled relationships that Rick experienced were because of his relationships with his parents, his father leaving and having to call another man his father.
