Excellent review. I will definitely read this book. It does not seem to have the non stop action of Full metal Jacket or Platoon, but I love history. I look forward to reading it.

I am not a fan of war or war stories. I do understand that everyone has a story to tell and it should be heard but I just don't have the heart to deal with gore and war. However, great review.

Having not read many books about the Vietnam era, I imagine this one will give me some insight into this aspect of history.

Pachyderms by Danny Buoy sounds good. I normally don't prefer war novels. But this one seems to deserve a trial. Congratulations on #botd.

Official Review: Pachyderms by Danny Buoy offers the readers a glimpse of the life of an army personnel! I like the point in the review that the book reveals the soldiers' daily lives in the camp and offices! The strong points of the story have been well stated in the review!

It sounds like a good war and army based story. Personally, I am not a great fan of this genre. But this review is well crafted and tells a lot of interesting topics covered in the book. Maybe i will read it sometime.

One thing more I would like to know about the book. I noticed a few cases of blasphemy in just the Sample and it made me wonder at what level the sex, profanity and, of course, violence (seeing as it deals with war) is at.

Thanks again.

I am not a very big fan of war stories but reading the review has left me wondering about this story of the war. I would love to read the book and know how the war ends.

A war novel based on a true story sounds engrossing. I like it that it's a realistic, compelling, and action-packed story. However, I'm not a fan of war stories and I'll pass on this one.

I am in the Army, and my fiancé is an Army aviator, so I imagine both of us would enjoy this book. Many Vietnam veterans do not like to share their stories, so I am interested in reading this novel, as it is based on a true story.
There is no frigate like a book
To take us lands away,
Nor any coursers like a page
Of prancing poetry.
This traverse may the poorest take
Without oppress of toll;
How frugal is the chariot
That bears a human soul!

I have certain segments of history that I prefer reading about when it comes to nonfiction. However, while the Vietnam War is not one of those preferred eras, I am intrigued by the day-to-day life that they would have experienced. Many times, books about Vietnam focus on the hardship of the soldiers or the devastation of the war in general. To read about the camaraderie and adventurous escapades seems very worthwhile. Thank you for your review!
