I love that this book sounds as though it has many layers, especially in the area of character relationships and how they develop. Complicated relationships can make for great drama and good reading. This just might be a bit too tense for me right now. I'll return to it when I'm in a better mood for it. Thank you for the helpful review.

This book seems to be a lot like the typical day in the lives of most average wives, mothers, sisters and friends. I enjoyed the first few pages, it does get me to turn the page. I appreciate the review, it gave me a good idea of what all to expect. For now, this type of marital chaos and heaviness, I wish to avoid. There's just too much of it all around me. But I will return to it when the time comes for a reality-check in my own life.

The dramatic part of it kept me ponder over the book. Looking from the gender perspective sometimes I felt like glorifying the sacrifice of Angie, and how she hang on to the marriage even after all the suffering. It gives a kind of justification for what George has done. But I would say author has tried not to put any character as either black or white, though the book narrative is from the perspective of Angie. Also it fled light on the role of psychiatric issues and the role of family set up in bringing about mental health issues.
