This story is about a young boy named Pete that is abused and has a mother that blames all of her troubles on Pete. On a trip to Memphis for a musical performance his mom is raped and he is hurt by the rapist. Pete meets Jake who takes care of him for a while and then puts Pete on a train to his aunt's home. I am intrigued by the title and the official review does not explain the meaning of the title so I will need to read more of the book to find out why the book is titled Saving Superman. Good official review.

Thanks for the great review. The author offers valuable insights into PTSD. The reluctance by the victims to relate their experiences makes it more difficult for them to obtain the relief they so desperately need.

This is a sad tale. I would hate to imagine in real life a child who is being brought up by strangers because their father is ever busy and a mother is depressed and bent on taking her life. It's a book I look forward to reading. Great review.

This sounds like an interesting but heartbreaking story. I feel horrible for the mother, but it breaks my heart more that she would blame Pete in any way. I’m just glad that the Jake character is kind and helps Pete, rather than making it much worse situation. That alone makes me want to get to know his character. Thank you for the helpful review.
