I loved your review. I sometimes judge the title and cover pages and I thought this would be like the Goosebumps series, and yet I am mistake. I love humor in a book and only a few authors could make laugh so I'm going to try this one. I like how you set an example about the topic politics. I also like how you compared it into sitcoms so I probably now know what to expect. Thanks for your review!

MASTERMINDERS BY TARA BASI

Wow. This book caught me by surprise. Started by thinking that it must be for junior high or teens. I liked that they were on Big Island which must have been fairly small.
The main characters, Bobby and Terry liked having very busy minds. Severe challenges like cold weather, bullies and difficult nuns seemed to be foremost in their concerns on a daily basis.
Lest they get bored, they pondered many concepts discovered in the set of Discovery DVDs to which

Bobby had access. They were very interested in learning; using experimentation, misinformation and an entrepreneur spirit to keep you laughing. Thought my grandchildren would find this fun.

I just finished reading the sample of Masterminders, and it was alright. As you mentioned, there were some minor editing errors, but the story itself is a hoot. I wish the author would have made note of how old Bobby and Terry are. If I had to guess I would think maybe 10 or 11. Based on the sample, Bobby's character seems awfully narcissistic, but your mention of his dad being terminally ill makes me understand his controlling behavior a little more. Great review!

Great review!!! Though this sounds like an interesting story, I think it may be just a little bit too silly for me.

Interesting review. Interesting to see what primary school kids come up with to solve the world's problems. Definitely sounds humorous. Like the answer to life's question is... 13. Will have to check it out

I like that, in a mostly fun and light book, there is a little bit of a serious element.

This sounds like an amazingly lovely story, perfect for a light weekend read! I love books about children who are portrayed as clever as I find them to be in real life. Thank you for the great review!

Like others have said, this is not what I expected the book to be about, based on the name and darker cover -- but it seems even better than I expected! From your review, it seems like a very character driven story, which I love. Definitely want to read this!

Your review makes me want to go out and read it right away. Having each chapter solve a problem makes me wonder how long the chapters are, and I hope they all eventually tie together. I'll check it out.

Masterminders sounds fun. The premise of school children tackling world issues is one I haven't seen before. I haven't gotten to the part on Politics yet. I can't wait. The way they confronted Global Warming was hilarious. My favorite part of the sample was when Doug says, "Theoretical – is that like Twix, ’cause I really like Twix?'' (pg.6) I just know I'll start laughing anytime I see a Twix.

I noticed the errors as well, but I didn't think they distracted too much from the story. The ones I saw were missing commas. I think it helped me to read past them since it was written in the first person, with a young boy as the protagonist.

Thank you for your insightful review. If I would have been undecided about reading this book, you would have just convinced me.

Hopefully this isn't a book that takes the approach of solving problems in a political and religious sense or I will have no interest in it. This also seems like a book where the plot goes all over the place.

Not a fan of literary novels but the fact that its also a humour novel I might consider it.
