The Dinosaur Lawyer by Adam Van Susteren is the first fiction I have ever encountered, fixating on the idea that dinosaurs may have never existed and that the science on their natural history has been an elaborate hoax by greedy billionaires. The idea is a head-scratcher: Why would anybody want to fake the history of the existence of a prehistoric monster? Also, why would anybody be determined to disprove the dinosaurs' existence, other than to fulfill a noble mission to establish the truth and free mankind from lies? The whole what-if premise of this book is at once absurd and thought-provoking. Having read the Amazon summary and pricklypurple's review, I get the impression that the book was not at all easy to write (no serious fiction is ever easy to write anyway), and it took a talented, highly determined author to write this book, bringing together information from the law, science, natural history and paleontology, to question the very science of questioning and investigation. I think it also holds up the mirror to how people absorb, source, obtain, understand, use and appreciate information they encounter. Also, who really owns information? The one who obtains it, or the one who finds a use for it?

I agree with the reviewer, the characters are indeed "likable." Well everyone loves dinosaurs and a lawsuit that is more likely to lose is a sure attention grabber for me anyway. Thank you for the review. :tiphat:

My grandson has wanted to be a paleontologist since he was 3. He's now 18 and has decided to keep paleontology as a major hobby rather than turning it into a job. His reasoning for this is that he feels he will have more leeway to pursue his own direction of discovery rather than having to focus on what others believe he should believe. The Dinosaur Lawyer will be perfect for him. Thank you for your enthusiastic review. 💕

I don't care for books that are heavy with technical science terms, but the plot sounds intriguing enough that I'll keep it on my to consider list. Great review!

The historical and scientific aspects are right up my alley, but I'm not too keen on the law and math. However, it still sounds entertaining.
