I loved the cover of the book. It represents the nature of women and how they can come together in times of hardship. The idea of Rachel and Ruth getting into some unacceptable activities didn't please me though. I also don't support when characters like Vivian have to marry or get a boyfriend purposely for paying their expenses. The humor is cathartic though and I would not mind reading the entire book when I manage to have it on my shelf. Your review of the book is excellent. Keep up the good work.

I was just thinking that the author should try humour because of the funny way she describes her failed attempt at horror. So it's interesting that you point out the humour in this book. It would have enriched this review, though, to comment on how the book deals with transition to crime by Rachel and Ruth. It seems to justify it.

This book sounds hilarious. I can’t imagine what felony they decide to commit to make money or what lengths their neighbor might go to in order to expose them. The book might be crude at times, but crude humor is right up my alley. Thank you for the helpful review.

The story is very real: trying to find a better place, disillusioned in job, finding that the pension of the husband ( my information is that husbands or the males are really the first one to go) is insufficient for everyday life. Even finding a devil in the neighborhood is not far from reality, I believe, considering the many stories you can find about it. But instead of drama, the review says it is more of humor. I am really wondering what are the trivial felonies they could have committed. How were they able to cope with their difficulties, and escape possible consequences of their felonies, or were they able to completely run away from it? It must be very naughty.

Reading the first few pages of the sample had me laughing, with the mention of the outhouse made out of cardboard. I had never heard of sewage pipes freezing in the Winter, but am now happy to be aware of that possibility. I have spent time on the West Coast, near Oregon, so enjoyed hearing about the rain and terrain. This seems like a book that I might really enjoy!

I haven’t read many light-hearted books such as this one, but I am interested in the storyline and how the main character will overcome her financial hardship.
There is no frigate like a book
To take us lands away,
Nor any coursers like a page
Of prancing poetry.
This traverse may the poorest take
Without oppress of toll;
How frugal is the chariot
That bears a human soul!

Wow! From her attempt to write a horror novel that didn't horrify, Sandra Sperling came up with this humorous ecliptical story.
Reading is a journey to the world.
