Just from the sample, I saw Yvonne deal with abandonment twice while pregnant. The first time, her boyfriend dumped her. The second, her fiancee got killed while on military duty. She will end up triumphant. I am curious to learn how she moves from loser to winner.

Good review! This sounds like a book I would read and not put down. I love a story where the suffering are able to succeed and triumph their trials. I can’t wait to read it.

Mirrors of Life by Neal Owens - an excellent review. I enjoyed reading the sample, the characters were clear and interesting. I will add this to my to-read list.

Seems like an interesting plot with a lot of complex characters. You mention that there are several “coming-of-age” characters. Would you consider this book appropriate for YA readers? Thanks!

Honestly I'm not sure of the religious refernces, but maybe it's just due to bad past experiences I have with American writer being heavy-handed under that point of view. However, from the review the book seems to have a number of interesting themes.

Interesting book. The title is catchy and I'm a bit disappointed when you mentioned that there was nothing that relates it with the content of the book. I agree that this book should be turned into a movie.

I thought this was a memoir at first glance, but it's clearly not. The book sounds enthralling based on your review, though I'm not sure it's for me. Great review as always.

It seems like a book that will be interesting based on the review. I should maybe add it to my list of want to read.

It is always interesting when author gives a new twist on alreary used subjects. The cover is a little bit weird. Good review.

Neal Owens did a good job in vividly relating the everyday life's of the black in his "mirrors of life". I think the plot & setting should be implemented in a movie, with exception of the explicit sexual scenes and gruesome violence
Good review!

I dislike cliffhangers and combined with the vague references to mirrors you mentioned, this is a pass for me. Thanks for your interesting review.

Good review, the novel offers readers an epitome of black people challenges to beat the status quo. Yvonne looks like a strong mother, however the book paints part of graphic sexuality which doesn't interest me to read it. Thanks BOTD

This book definitely sounds like an interesting read and the review is very well written. However, I don't like that the title is not linked clearly with the story itself.

I love the book title! And it's a perspective I don't know much about so it would be very interesting
