Huh. That's informative, because I've been confused about that too, a little bit.

Indeed, I sincerely hope that the author of Taken Away does not have the bad experience that I did. Ideally, everyone who wins her giveaway will review her book and appreciate receiving it. More likelihood of that if those of us from this site enter her giveaway, so think about entering, everyone!

OK, I just entered the giveaway, and I pledge to read and review (somewhere online) this book if I win it.

Forgive this unasked for advice, but if the author is out there, I've been down this boat, and shipping to foreign lands is expensive. Very expensive. You may want to modify your giveaway for just USA. Half the winners (for whatever reason) will be in those expensive countries, and you could be up the creek without a paddle. We're talking maybe $20 a package.

Never mind my senseless advice--this book is not self-published, so the publishing house would have to eat those costs. Well, I usually mean well, anyway! :-)

It really is a good book. How can you resist reading about a main character who is a veterinarian? :)

Yeah, it would be a thrill! Wow, I've never been on this side of a giveaway. It's fun! I'll definitely post here if I win on June 21st!

I won 2 Goodreads giveaways within a 2-week period last year. It was such a thrill! I felt like I won the lottery...not quite, but it was still fun. The only downside was that I didn't receive the books until 6 weeks later.

The books each took so long to arrive that I just thought the Goodreads giveaway wins were a mirage.

Maybe the books were officially published and the publishing houses weren't on the ball? I always mailed mine right out, but individuals always are more eager than organizations, perhaps?

I wonder if Goodreads just takes a long time to pass the winners' info to the authors. Otherwise it was just a weird coincidence that the first and only time I won books, it took 5 or 6 weeks for the books to arrive.

Nope. When I had a giveaway, I was given that info pronto. I'll give GR that; they're on the ball about that sort of thing.

I won a book on a Goodreads give away. I felt like a rockstar. It was the first time I won anything from the internet. The book did take a long time to reach me but it was a very exciting mail day when it did.

Anything that is not junk mail. I don't even mind the bills so much! We moved into this house two years ago and are still receiving mail for the previous owners. Some of that mail looks important. Why have they not changed their address?

One time the old owner came by a year and a half after she moved and sold the house to us and tried to tell us she was expecting a check in the mail at our address. We told her to change where it was being sent. We are not her post office. So weird. I have never experienced anything like it before.

Weirdness. Yeah, that is odd. I imagine it would be a hassle yet a doable one to inform everyone (starting with the post office) of your new address. After that, you just have to list everyone who yuo do business with and tackle it. Well, you tell her! I'd have done the same thing, if I had the moxie!
