Guardian of Deceit by William H. Coles is an amazing story that at first glance seems purfanctory but on a deeper dive gives so much more. The book does not try to make people seem at all magical. It clearly makes sure one understands that everyone can be both good and bad.
The review is written fantastically and the implication of what it means to be a family is written masterfully not only in the book but the review as well. Congratulations on an amazing review. :tiphat:

Thank you! I agree with you that the story really does show that people aren't perfect and the world is not a magical place where everything just falls into place.

Today's #BOTD sounds so well-written and inspiring! The fact that it appeals to a variety of readers, I have no doubt I am going to enjoy this one! I have downloaded my #free copy on Smashwords. Thank you! I love stories about characters who are able to overcome the odds, despite the many obstacles along their journey. Thank you for your review! Do you feel this would also be a good book for high school students or is it more aimed toward adults?

An orphaned teenager looking for love definitely has a sweetness to it. I like how the author made this coming-of-age story into one with great relationship building. It's great to hear that the book was so well done that it was difficult to find a flaw within its pages. Also, it's great to hear that the relationships here are authentic and that the story felt realistic. Though I love connecting with characters, I don't think this is for me. Glad you enjoyed this read, and thank you for sharing!

I think it depends on the high schooler and the parental viewpoints. There are some pretty hardcore drug scenes, domestic violence, some sex, but more innuendo, definitely not on the level of erotica.

I like the fact that the story brings out both the worst and the best in people. It teaches us that there are no perfect people and many other lessons we should always keep in mind. This is a nice nice book!

Interesting. Darwin's search for love might seem impossible in his new home. However, love can be found in hopeless places as well. I hope Darwin can find what he is searching for. Thank you for your insightful review!

Great review. I'm definitely interested in this one as it shows the many things wrong in a family. With Darwin being orphaned and sent to live with his uncle, I can see where things can go wrong. Congrats on being BOTD and thanks for making it free.

Great review. ‪This sounds like a wonderful and complex coming of age and beyond story, overcoming great adversity with a very realistic feel to it. Congrats to the author on the great review!
