Thanks for the great review. I look forward to reading about a girl and her family from Indian. To see how families live in India but also the struggles of what a young girl may have to go though.

Oh goodness...poor Muthu. I can't imagine being sold to the circus and told to do things that might be unsavory. It's great to hear that the author's does a great job in expressing the characters' motivations, and that this is written well. Even with Muthu's character development, I worry about those graphic/sexual scenes (including raping minors) will be too much for me. I'm glad that you enjoyed this read and that the author seems to have written a powerful story, though!

It's really sad what acts poverty forces families into engaging in, but then, Muthu's father not appearing as naive as initially apparent invites a twist. I think I'll pass due to the nature of the sensitive issues raised but thanks for the helpful review!

Poor ethics in circuses has definitely been a hot topic lately, what with the Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey circus shutting down for good. I expect that Elastic Girl is a significant bridge between current events, child labor, and fiction. Potentially, it could be a way for readers to build empathy for victims of child labor and abuse.

Though this is hard to read as it involves child abuse, I liked the part where Muthu grows in spirit, breaking out of old roles to find new purpose in life. Thanks for the review.

I love the theme of circus because usually there is drama, fame, deception and sometimes a bit of love. These genres usually make for an amazing read so I am quite excited to read this novel.

Reading your review brought to mind the book “A Child Called It”. This book seems like a good read. Books like this help put things into perspective. I look forward to reading this book.

 This book brings awareness to the realities, misery and abuse that countless children go through when they fall victims to child traffickers, as seen through the story of Muthu in this book. I'll get some time to finish reading this, same should be for all of my fellow interested readers..

This sounds like a great book. I was half ready to go and read it until I came to the part about references to sexual exploitation, including the rape of minors. That was when I knew I would read it with difficulty, which is not encouraging, since those are the topics that should be known and represented as much as possible. I will think about reading it and just skipping that content, since authors of those subjects should be supported. But great review, thank you for writing it :tiphat:

Amazing fictionalized tale that deserves a 4 out of 4 acting. Excellent onlinebook.org review also.

The lonelyness and fear of not fitting in with being a circus performer in africa absolutely broke my heart. At young ages we all feel like outcasts.

Thanks for the good review on this book. It sounds like an interesting read, even though there will be some difficult parts to get through. I think it will definitely give insight to things that can happen to those less fortunate.

I think the author is trying to awaken the world, particularly those countries or places where women are treated as useless..i hope this story can touch the heart of those individuals who have a discriminating view to women.

Very interesting, not only this book described India in a picture but it also depicted the entire South Asia. The book contains fascinating points and also shows the hardships that people who suffer from poverty actually face in our region. Countries like Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh and India have these issue very common and also the description given in this book supports the reality as well. I am happy that the author took the liberty to carefully record these things, this it will be an eye opener for anyone outside of this region. Thank you for the review!
