I too have never thought about the ramifications of our uneven sexual views on the male gender - especially younger boys - so that sounds intriguing, but I still don't want to read this book because I don't like coming-of-age tales or stories that follow youngsters as they figure such things out... Thanks for the great review, though!

Great review. This novel sounds like a very interesting and emotional take on the issues that young people face in a time period when the world was slowly evolving and becoming more receptive towards what love could mean and what it means to be in a relationship.

The mention of toxic masculinity in your review also intrigued me, as this is a very real issue in modern society and I would be curious to see how the author explores this, as well as the various relationships between the central characters.

I will definitely be adding this to my reading list.

Sex and peer pressure are different for boys and girls. It's good to see the issue from both perspectives. These are also issues that have evolved over time. My experiences growing up were not the same as those of the 1960s. This sounds love an interesting book.

Very nice review! The 1960's sexual revolution brought on so many negative changes in the years down the road. I believe many sexual issues and negative consequences stem from that time period. This book sounds like an interesting read. Thank you for your review.

Amazing review. I would like to read about the characters Deanie and Brian. The theme of the book is really good. It would be moving to read about the toxic sexuality. I am looking forward to read it.

It sounds like an awesome book. It is so rare that the trials young men face in our society are addressed in literature.

I am a fun of the drama that teenagers bring about, plus the topics that the book covers can enlighten me. Thank you for the review

Thanks for the review. I like the setting but that is about all. The characters do not interest me and I am not drawn into the plot. This one will not be on my list.

Great job, very detailed review. This book sounds like a very honest book. Many of us can relate to the impact of peer pressure had on us growing up. It's good that the book is looking at both sides of adolescent behaviour or emotional thoughts. I can only assume that young men had just as much struggle with the subject of sex as young women did. I can also see how the pressure could dictate some of the negative reactions young men have. I think I will take a look at this short read. Maybe useful in the future when I have children.

What an interesting review! Brian and Deanie represent what is going on in our community, the pressure is not a good thing for the mind and soul. Every child should be trained in sex education.

I like that the book explains how gender equality benefits both women and men, and how men that see women as property are damaged. For that, I think I will like the book.

Great review. This book sounds interesting with it’s themes of peer pressure and high school drama and teens budding sexuality. That it’s set in the 1960’s adds an element of struggle that may not be present in the same book set in more modern times. Thanks so much for sharing.

This is a teen drama novel that highlights peer pressure, high school and the feelings of fear and insecurity. The plot is captivating and the onlinebookclub review is highly inciteful. I rated the book 3 out of 4 stars. Congrats on being the BOTD.
