A good review without giving away any spoilers. The book sounds complex with many main characters and storylines. I'm adding it to my 'want to read list' for when I'm in the mood for an interesting read. Congrats BOTD!

The most important thing in life is to be human and the most difficult thing is to maintain human relationships. I am looking forward to read the way W.H.Coles explore relationships in light of the unending human wants in The Spirit of Want.

Thank you for the great review.

The complexity of this book in exploring relationship in family and with a spouse, religion, and career seems will be a good read to me because it's a story of a particular family. Every family I believe will be dealing with these type of issues i.e the history of a spouse is hidden from the loved ones.

I found it interesting that the author was able to write so knowledgeably on three different topics that are each very complex in their own way.

I can deal with minor editing issues. Looking forward to reading this one. Thank you for your review. 💕

I don't think I have any interest reading this book because it seems like way too much is going on in the plot for me to follow. I think I'll pass.

Oh I very much want to read this book. I have great interest in the medical field (my own career is closely allied with hospitals and medicine within that setting), and my best friend is a lawyer. But even more so, I love books that really deal with human relationships. This one sounds great for understanding a variety of marriages, but then that of a relationship between a young child and her parents - or lack thereof - and with other women caregivers. That is fascinating to me. Thanks for the review!

I enjoyed the nicely detailed review. After reading the sample, I was not thinking much of the plot and even less of Lucy. Medical, legal and religious – that is an interesting mix. The comment about the children though makes me pause. I shall have to think about this one.

I enjoyed reading the review since the thought process is very organized and thorough. Likewise, I am now curious and would make it a point to read the book The Spirit of Want by William Coles. I work in the legal field while most of my relatives are engaged in the field of medicine so I am very sure that I could relate to the stories within each chapter.

In addition to being a part of the field of law, I am also married to a police officer. Oftentimes we find ourselves pulled in several directions on account of the kind of jobs we are dedicated at. I might get an advice or two on how to make the marriage work by reading this book. I will add this to my shelves. Thanks for the highly intellectual review.

Seems like The Spirit of Want deal with a myriad of themes which is typical in William H. Coles' work. Personally, I am put off by such books where the author stretches the readers in so many directions. I mean my head was spinning just by reading the review. Hence I will pass this one. Thanks for the review!

Will give this book a pass; the various angles seem to make the story a bit complicated. You seem to have enjoyed the book though, judging from your wonderful review!

Between reading this review and reading the free sample i'm super excited to read the whole book. It sounds exciting and dramatic. When I first saw the cover I thought it was going to be about native american's and ancient spirits, not about lawyers and doctors and the drama that ensues. Both characters sound like a lot of fun, particularly Lucy and her so far crazy personality.

From the sample I read and your review, this book sounds extremely well written. I enjoy complex stories because they require more effort to follow and understand. One day, I will return to this book.

Thanks for the review!

Sounds like a really good read. Especially since its combining three different fields that usually aren't combined in a story anyway. Plus, I read the sample of it and what I read makes me interested in reading this story one of these days.
