An impressive character-driven book "The Assignment" by Don Chance, which is all about choices, secrets, and professionalism. The story follows well-respected economist C.J McCarter, who has dedicated herself completely to her work. On the family front her husband Trey gets attracted to his graduate student. It is interesting to find whether C.J's family life survives.
life is only knowing the unknown, we can do this by reading books easily- Online book club is a great place for this. This is what I believe.

I love the drama that this book sure holds. Can’t wait to get lost in it while reading. Great review.

The characters in The Assignment are very well developed and seem to be the reason why the book is as great as it is! I am not one for drama, especially when it comes to relationships, so I will be passing on this one. Congrats to the author on BOTD! :)

I'm not always a fan of character-driven books (I totally love action) but I do like a good book about a woman who's killing it professionally. The characters sound like they're interesting enough to keep my attention. You didn't mention anything about the ending, but this doesn't seem like the kind of story that gets a "happy ending" as it were. I like that. Thanks for the review, I'm putting this on my to-read list!

I like the dramatic stories, it's good sometimes to make sacrifices for a successful career and there are lot of real stories that are showing the same events, but the most important thing is the success you get in the end especially after the hard work. Thank you for the good review

I read the sample of this book and I can definitely see how the author hooks you into caring about CJ and wanting to know what happens next. I don’t usually read books like this but CJs journey is one that I found myself wanting to see through to the end.

Academics and scientists often have tumultuous personal lives and relationships, so this book sounds fun and intriguing to read. It is amazing how logical and intelligent people can be so negligent in their private lives. I think I will enjoy this book as this side of life has always fascinated me, particularly in the academic world. I also enjoy reading books with character that are well developed and interesting. Your review was very enjoyable for me to read!

I appreciate a book with a strong female lead and it is nice to see an achieved woman go after what she wants and how she deals with trying to save her marriage.

I read the sample from the book on Amazon, but I didn't see where the story was going (just from the sample). Maybe the sample needs to be longer. It started to seem pointless after a while. I might give it another try at some point since the reviews are so positive.

Thank you for the well written review. I love books that include a good slice of drama, and my interest is peaked. Character-driven stories always add a flavorful narrative and are my favorite to read. I feel like a lot of people can relate to the struggle of having strength in one area of life and seriously lacking in another; like the character CJ you discussed. This is not a type of book that would normally stand out to me, but after reading your praises in this review, I am interested and want to read it for myself.

Veeery tempting to read. I'm hoping for a happy ending rather then a break up and cheating. This is one of those books where you know you'll be hooked right from the beginning. Great review!

Interesting plot. Thanks for the heads up on the profanity and explicit erotic scenes. I'll have to pass.

I don't find the plot too intriguing, relationships and sex scenes aren't what I enjoy reading about. I'm putting this one aside.

A parable about the work-life balance is always a good idea. This sounds like a well-executed effort by the author. I enjoy character-driven stories and may try this one. Thanks!
