I also thought that the discovery of bullets smuggled on to his plane in the first chapter would have set up a tale of fight against crime, but he decided to get away from that scenario. He is an engaging character and the book is well worth a read.

A thorough review about this historical fiction with some real life characters . Sticks in the Clouds are like fleeting missiles as in Missiles of October. Strife can't hold back frienship, love and faith. Highly recommended for lovers of historical ficttion smothered with heroism and romance.

From reading the review, it paints the book as something worth reading because of its accurate depiction of a pilot's experience and the way the author brilliantly wrote each and very scene, giving a clear picture of what the story is like. Although this book sounded like it would be quite intriguing with the smuggling of bullets aspect initially, as I like thrillers, and then realizing the story changes direction, it was a little deflating. This sounds like an interesting historical fiction book with the addition of interesting parts regarding the situation in Cuba in the 1900s. The main character leaves a dubious career with one airline to find a better job and peruse a more fulfilling life. Thanks for a great review.
