I’m not sure how I would handle some of the more graphic qualities of this book. But the rest of it sounds really good! Great review!

An interesting review about a book on a poor girl who lives hand to mouth for her survival and still triumphs in the end. The review is well written and gives a clear understanding on what to expect from the book. In line with the story of the book and the review, you can easily make a decision to get this amazing book.

"Muthu has been sold to a circus. This is just the start of a heart breaking story of a little girl’s life growing up in the streets of poverty ridden India. Olivia Rana, the author of Elastic Girl, takes the reader on a stunningly graphic journey of Muthu, the main character, and her struggle from birth. As a small child, she is sent out onto the streets to sell roti to make a living for the family. In a freak accident, she awakens from being thought dead to having the miraculous gift of a contortionist. Her family, evicted from their home, sell her and her new talent to a local circus. This is just the beginning of the twist and turns of fate that will push her along to despair.

Rand, the author, has the natural talent of a storyteller. She captures readers with strong character development and obvious research in how life in India is for a great majority. The story line weaves through Muthu’s experiences with despicable foes and her own self-worth as a person. When you think it can’t get any worse, she is thrown deeper into what most would think a nightmare scenario. Only her hope of a better life keeps her alive.

Elastic Girl, will tear at your heart, make you believe in hope and finally it will make you reflect on all the good and wonderful things that we take for granted each day

I always love reading books that portray the female triumph in struggling with life. Reading just the preview of the book seems very interesting. I highly recommend this book for motivation and spirit uplifting, especially the girls/ women.

Being sold to the circus is pretty gross and the girl must have endured a lot during her years in the circus. Besides the graphic references to sexual exploitation, including the rape sound really aweful. It must be diffeicult to read about the girl's hardships but at the same time the book looks like it is worth reading.

This book has highlighted more in human trafficking, and how women and girls were viewed with less importance in Indian communities and boys held at a higher rank

I have recently read a book about circus performers and I enjoyed it. So I think this book would be a good read for me. Great job on the review!

I am relating this book to a proverb in our community that says... a hard working child will never lack a carer.... when you strive hard, there will always be someone on your way to support you.. very interesting though and indeed practical

She noticed that the trainer knew her father's name. It would be a spoiler to say too much else.

Over the years, our family has visited the circus several times. It's exciting to see how they are so versatile in their acts. Like Muthu, I've often wondered how the children performers feel about their acts and whether or not they actually enjoy the performing lifestyle.
