Immigrant life could already be challenging enough. Being proclaimed dead, living on the streets, and many other struggles would certainly compound the problem into the most extreme proportions. Compassion is a real game changer in this case indeed, and I really hope that the goodness of humanity ultimately prevails in the story.

Thank you for your well-written and insightful review.

I am not really interested in this one currently. Sympathizing with a self-inflicted homeless Cuban refugee is not really for my current mood but maybe on another day.

This looks like a deep and emotionally satisfying read. After sampling, I agree it is one of the most well-edited books I've ever seen.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

This sounds like a really interesting book. Gato sounds like a determined guy if he plans to take on the US government. Based on the review, I think this book sounds like a unique story line that would be worth the read.

The mystery aspect that you described makes this sound like a page turner. From what you described with the social security and him struggling it may be a piece a lot of people could connect with. Thanks for the review.

Thank you for your review. I was kind of on the fence about this book, and I still am a little bit, but your review made me more interested in it than the description on Amazon, so I downloaded it.

This sounds like social commentary on the current bureaucratic issues with an interesting twist (SS mistakenly believing him to be dead). This sounds like an interesting read and certainly an excellent book for discussion.

Your review of Citizen Cardenas by Steve Cole was exceptional. I enjoyed the language you used in making your points concise and informative; an example would be "Each character has a distinctive voice and offers a different facet of the story as it continues through time." Your review helped me make a decision to read it in its entirety or not. Thank you.

Beautiful review! Thanks for giving us a glimpse into what we're getting into with this book. I'd consider reading this one as I have no familiarity with immigration struggles, and the characters sound interesting and well-developed!

This sounds really interesting, and I enjoyed reading the prolog. Gato's voice feels very specific and has a huge contrast with Alexia's voice in the following section. Multiple first person perspectives always interest me, and this sounds like a very complex look at a homeless character and those who are trying to help him.

This book by Steve Cole looks like a must read as it gives us insight on the life and struggles of an immigrant. It also serves as a warning to everyone that wishes to migrate to one country or another that settling down may not be as easy as one thinks. Thanks for this great book
