As a Vietnam era vet, I would normally shy away from a book about a war that divided the USA. Your review has caused me to be interested. Thank you for taking the time to share.

Reading an entire book about war is probably beyond my capacity, so I will let this one pass. But I do understand that this is an important book in this genre, as media and related industries are looking for drama which a lot of the time does not throw light on a lot of things or manipulates a lot of things to suit its purpose and books like these are necessary to put the record straight.

Excellent review! This sounds like a very interesting book, however, I am just not interested in another Viet Nam War story! I like that it focuses some on the off-duty time of the soldiers; that's a new twist. Having lived through the era of the Viet Nam War I can say it was a turbulent time. I saw the aftermath of how our military personnel was treated when they came home and I simply want to put that period of my life away for good!

As an ex-soldier myself, I enjoy military books, especially if they are based on actual events and experiences. I think a lot of people are too influenced by what they see in movies and don't have any idea about what the army or war is all about. It sounds like this book breaks that barrier down and lifts the veil of ignorance in this regard. It also sounds entertaining and relevant to read although it is about a war that took place a long time ago. Your review gave a good summary of the book and what to expect if you read it.

The book seems to offer a true account of the experiences of military personnel. Plus, it also has first-hand account of how the American Military Aviation Unit was involved in the Vietnam war. Although I'm not much into war stories, this book would surely be insightful for those who find the genre engaging. Thank you for the well-written review.

Sounds like a great read for people who enjoy war stories, especially the ones about aviation. However, I'm not interested in the subject, but congrats on BOTD!

This novel gives you an insight on how the military works. Best still, it shows the Vietnam war in a better way that you get what it was really like. I am not a fan of war or the aftermath but I managed to read this.

Thanks for the review, but I really dislike war stories. Additionally, I don't care to learn "how the military aviation unit operates...[or] how the pilots and aircraft are assigned." I therefore will not be reading Pachyderms.

I was really surprised when I read the sample of Pachyderms; war themes normally don't have a sense of humor attached to them. I can tell that this book is fast-paced, and I appreciate the fact that it is based on a real story. Great job on your review! :)
