This sounds like a moving story, with the grandfather becoming reincorporated into the family.

The story about family dynamics sounds good but lately I find myself reading slow books, so I’ll pass for now . Thanks for your review .

I always enjoyed books that delve deep into the inner struggles of one's life. Books like that make me reflect on my inner turmoils and life. Also, I'm quite fond of slow starts that methodically constructs the characters to deliver a stellar climax I am definitely going to check out the book. Thanks for the review!

Thank you for sharing your excellent review with us. I agree with you that it is a slow burn novel. I loved the lazy weekend vibe I got initially. I will definitely be adding this book to my reading list.

This sounds like a lovely book but not overall something I think I would have the patience to read. Thanks for the review!

A pensive family-focused novel "What the River Wants" by Arthur Byrd, which follows the life of a stubborn old man Tom, who has distanced himself from his family and stays in cabin by a river in wilderness of Mississippi. When his grandson Lee contacts him, he gets in touch with the other members of the family. The story appears to be quite engaging.
life is only knowing the unknown, we can do this by reading books easily- Online book club is a great place for this. This is what I believe.

What the River Wants by Arthur Byrd is a family oriented story. Don't know about reading it. Congratulations on #botd.

This book sounds so relatable to many families. Feelings are so easily hurt and we don't know how, or don't want, to mend the fences. Tom's decisions reflect one way that people try to heal their pain. You have made this book sound quite appealing. Thanks!

Kudos to Scott. I think he is raising an exceptional family of book reviewers online. OnlineBookClub reviews seem to be different from those from other review sites. I could not make anything out of this book until I read your review. The sample at Amazon does not make any sense to me about the book. If I am going to buy the book, it is because of your review not because of the sample. Thank you for a job well done.

A story that follows the life of a stubborn older man who has distanced himself from his family sounds interesting. Reading his family stories and memories will be of a great help to me. I'll add this in my to-read list. Thanks for your review.

Good review. I love to hear the stories of families past. Especially when it involves past issues and problems that are needing to be worked out. I'm interested to see how this hermit, Tom, finally comes to terms with his past. Will he make amends or will he continue to be a stubborn mule. I will add this to my list of must reads.

This book sounds endearing. I love reading about family dynamics, but the slow start might make it hard for me to finish. Thanks for a great review!

This book sounds fascinating to me, especially on a personal level as I am a very similar person to Tom, the main character. The plot sounds interesting and I'm sure there must be some colourful descriptions of the river and hut that he lives in. The interactions with the friend who let him down and with his family sound like an absorbing plot. Your review is nicely written and enjoyable to read.
